Francois Koh, Georgian Bay Symphony, classical music, Owen Sound, orchestra

Dear Music Fans,

Welcome to the 2019-20 season of the Georgian Bay Symphony! For October, the GBS will open the season with an English themed repertoire. Tristan Durie,an accomplished flautist who has been actively performing in the GTA, will perform J. Haydn’s concerto for flute in D Major. Another masterwork, V. Williams’ second symphony (a.k.a. London Symphony) will be played by the GBS.

For December, the Georgian Bay Children’s Choir will join us to perform Polar Express by R. Kapilow: and our own viola principal Jasmine Schnarr will be performing G.F Telemann’s concerto for viola.

The February concert will be an exceptional performance. It will be the first time that the GBS will present a semi-classical and pops concert since my appointment as Music Director. I’m sure that the audience will enjoy the famous tunes and easy listening classical music repertoire.

In March, the GBS will perform repertoire consisting only of Beethoven’s works to celebrate his 250th Anniversary. A prominent pianist, Younggun Kim will perform the famous piano concerto no.5 “Emperor” and the GBS will end the concert with Symphony no.5 “Fate”.

The May concert will be a fantastic combination

of French and Russian music. Accomplished violinist, Aysel Taghi-Zada, who has worked with the GBS as guest concertmaster will be performing Saint – Saens’ Concerto for violin no. 3 and the GBS will end the season with M. Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.

Thank you for supporting the Georgian Bay

Symphony. I sincerely look forward to meeting all of you at the concerts!

Yours truly,

François Koh, Music Director
