Youth Award Recipients 2019

Congratulations to the recipients of the 2018-19 Georgian Bay Symphony Youth Awards!

The GBS has been fortunate to work with several talented young musicians, who have demonstrated their passion for music throughout the year.

The award is names for Herman Dilmore, the Symphony's first conductor.

Zoe McKittrick

An honours grade-nine student at OSDSS, Zoe McKittrick studies cello, is a member of Owen Sound’s Music for Youth, and is both a ballet and highland dancer.

She is a senior chorister in the Georgian Bay Children’s Choir,and works as assistant to the conductor and a music theory coach for the junior choirs.

Zoe is delighted to be part of the Georgian Bay Symphony Orchestra.

Jeffrey Paik

Jeffrey started playing the cello at age 5 in Oakville, in the Suzuki program. He completed Grade 8 practical in 2018 with first class honors and has moved through the Royal Conservatory Orchestral training program. Jeffrey currently studies with Tricia Balmer in Toronto where he was a 2x award winner of the Davenport Music Festival. Upon moving to Owen Sound in 2017, he joined the Georgian Bay Symphony and represented Grey County Kiwanis at provincials. He is a Grade 10 student at OSDSS. In addition, he plays 1st Trombone and Euphonium in the Hannaford youth program under the direction of Anita McAlister.
