The Grey County Kiwanis Festival of Music 2021

The show will go on!!

You still have time to register for the 2021 Festival of Music!

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Friday, March 19, 2021

Just over a year ago, the volunteer Board of the Grey County Kiwanis Festival of Music made the very difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Grey County Kiwanis Festival of Music. At the time, we weren’t certain how much the pandemic would change the world around us but we also knew that the safety of children, their families, our volunteers and organizers was our priority. Over the course of that same year we have learned to adapt and are excited to announce that for 2021 we are hosting both a Virtual Festival and producing a Festival of Stars Award Concert video!

Virtual Festival: The entire Grey County Kiwanis Festival of Music is going online. We have overhauled our registration system so that students can submit their piece via a YouTube link and adjudicators will be able to evaluate submissions from home. This is really the only difference for students and adjudicators. All participants will continue to receive a written adjudication and class certificate. Festival awards, scholarships and provincial recommendations will also be available.

Festival of Stars Awards Concert Video: While friends, family and supporters may not get to see as many performances as in the past, the Festival will create a video for the Festival of Stars. We’ll follow the same concert format people are familiar with, including announcing the names of the winners and providing samples of the online submissions. The video will be posted on our website at http://www.kiwanismusicfestival.net/ and will be available April 27, 2021.

To make this event even more successful, we need your help. Fundraising was a challenge for us this year. We are not able to sell programs or charge admission for the festival performances or for the Concert Video, though each comes with some expense to our organization. We will be providing a “donate” link online for the Festival of Stars, and we hope supporters of the Festival will make a contribution. Promoting the event was also challenging this year.

If you know someone who has enjoyed the Grey County Kiwanis Festival of Music in the past, share this post so they can see what we have accomplished in ensuring that for music lovers of all ages in our community, the show will go on!
